Jhon Canon is a human resources professional with more than 15 years of experience across HR, staffing, workforce development and organizational leadership. He currently serves as HR Manager at Stolk Construction, where he leads the HR function and is a member of the leadership team, contributing to workforce planning, organizational development, performance and accountability, training and development, health and safety, compliance, and organizational change.
Prior to joining Stolk Construction, Jhon spent 13 years with OnDemand Staffing as both HR Manager and General Manager. During that time, he worked with employers across a wide variety of industries to understand workforce and operational challenges and develop practical solutions. He also had the opportunity to support a diverse workforce, including newcomers and members of underrepresented groups, helping individuals connect with employment that reflected their skills, education and goals.
Jhon joined the Workforce Collective Board of Directors as a Director, later served as Vice Chair, and now serves as Chair. His role is focused on governance, oversight and the long-term direction of the organization. His involvement with Workforce Collective has also broadened his understanding of the workforce challenges facing Niagara and the initiatives and organizations working to address them.
Jhon is also a member of the Niagara Industrial Association’s Workforce Development Committee, where he contributes to discussions and initiatives related to workforce needs within Niagara’s industrial sector.
Originally from Colombia, Jhon has called Niagara home for more than 20 years. His own experience establishing a life and career in Canada has contributed to his longstanding interest in helping people access meaningful employment and opportunities for growth.
Jhon was recognized as the Welland Pelham Chamber of Commerce’s Employee of the Year at the 2017 Ruby Awards and was named one of Niagara’s 40 Under Forty in 2021.
