Green, Clean Economy

The Province of Ontario is prioritizing the growth and development of clean economy jobs and there is evidence to suggest that there is already investment in Ontario which will lead to the creation of thousands of new jobs. 

At the local level, Niagara Region Economic Development has already identified opportunities for new business in the green economy which will lead to substantial growth in clean economy jobs in our region.  The location of the new Volkswagen battery production facility in Southwestern Ontario will also have implications for local businesses to become part of the supply chain.  While this growth is occurring, little data exists at the local level to understand the size and shape of our clean economy labour market to enable businesses, educational institutions, and local government to plan for the future.   

This project will focus on collecting data and employer insights related to the green, clean economy.  The green, clean economy is being prioritized at both a provincial and local level so we aim to support these ongoing initiatives.
