Home Projects Archive: Youth Employment

In 2018-2019 we completed a Youth Engagement Strategy project which examined “successful” youth employment as outlined by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). This includes access to jobs, quality of jobs (full or part-time employment), and job satisfaction. Throughout the past year, we tracked employment impacts for youth and engaged with youth committees. We found that the pandemic had an impact on employment, education, and training, and are working to understand what local support would be valuable to youth in Niagara.

While this project engaged with youth in secondary and post-secondary education, NWPB plans to include insights from under-represented youth in Niagara. We’ve found that there is a lack of representation of their experiences across the labour force.
