A generous donation from global community design and engineering specialists Stantec has enabled Niagara Workforce Planning Board to offer a special bursary for Niagara’s newcomer professionals on behalf of its Immigrant Mentorship Program.

The $1,000 bursary will be awarded to a member of Niagara’s newcomer community who has an interest and/or professional background in engineering and technology occupations. The purpose of the grant is to help the recipient to further their career opportunities here in Canada through education or re-certification.

“So many newcomers to Canada have the skills and experience it takes to succeed in their field of interest, but need Canadian certification before they can successfully integrate into the local workforce”, says NWPB’s mentorship program coordinator, Josie Faccini, who will be accepting bursary applications on behalf of NWPB. “Thanks to this generous donation from Stantec, we’ll be able to help someone secure that certification and achieve their dreams here in the Niagara region.”

The bursary application period will run until December 4, 2020 at 5 pm EDT. Applicants can complete a very brief application form through this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Stantec-Bursary. The application includes a 250 word statement on how this bursary will help further the applicant’s Canadian career goals.

Questions about this process should be directed to Josie Faccini, at josie@nwpb.ca. We at NWPB are looking forward to hearing your stories about coming to Niagara, and your passion for furthering your Canadian career goals. Good luck with your applications!
