In celebration of their 66th anniversary, global community design and engineering specialists Stantec have generously donated a $1,000 bursary to Niagara Workforce Planning Board’s Immigrant Mentorship Program.

The bursary will be awarded to a Niagara newcomer whose professional background is in science, technology, or engineering. Its intent and purpose is to help the recipient to further their career opportunities through additional training or re-certification.

“Many newcomers arrive in Canada with a wealth of experience and training, but need Canadian certification before they can bring their skillset to the local workforce”, said NWPB’s mentorship program coordinator, Josie Faccini, who will be accepting bursary applications on behalf of NWPB. “Thanks to this generous donation from Stantec, we’ll be able to help someone secure that certification and move forward with their career.”

The bursary application period will run until March 13, 2020 at 5 pm EDT. Applicants can complete a very brief application form through this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NICI-Bursary. The application includes a 250 word statement on how this bursary will help further the applicant’s Canadian career goals.

Questions about this process should be directed to Josie Faccini, at josie@nwpb.ca. The bursary recipient will be contacted by April 30, 2020. We will also be holding an info session on Monday, March 9, 2020 at 10:30 am at Niagara Folk Arts.

We at NWPB are looking forward to hearing your stories about coming to Niagara, and your passion for furthering your Canadian career goals. Good luck with your applications!
