Caring Economy

Home Projects Caring Economy

In recent years, and especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, we paid close attention to trends in women’s (un)employment. This work led us to investigating unique challenges such as:

  • Labour shortages within Early Learning and Child Care, as childcare enables mothers of young children to work;
  • high levels of resignation and burnout within the non-profit sector’s workforce; and
  • talent attraction and retention issues within key sectors such as post-secondary education and healthcare.

… all challenges related to the Caring Economy. The Caring Economy is made up of sectors like healthcare, education, and social assistance, which are mostly made up of non-profit organizations and staffed by women. This critical segment of our economic and social infrastructure needs our support.
